Southern cuisine is one of the most diverse and traditional styles of cooking that has passed through generations. It can be extremely delicious, but there is one problem. Most people avoid the Southern diet since it is not considered very heart-healthy, with high cholesterol and high carbohydrates.

When you follow the Ketogenic diet, you need to consume meals that are low-carb and high fat. These dishes should, however, include a moderate amount of protein. When you reduce your intake of carbohydrates, your body will need to look for an alternative means to produce energy since the glucose levels in your body will decrease. The only option your body has is to target the stored fat and the fat in food to produce energy. When your body breaks the fat down into ketones, your body will shift into the metabolic state called Ketosis. When your body begins to burn fat, you lose weight faster. It is for this reason that people lose weight quickly when they follow the Ketogenic diet.

My Thoughts
Okay, right off the back they give you some amazing recipes for fried chicken, which is a southern staple if you didn't know. I remember growing up and my grandmother making some of the best fried chicken. However, trying to live a low carb lifestyle, it really isn't something a person should be having. However, the low carb version that is provided in this cookbook, which they give you two different recipes where one is with coconut flour and the other with almond flour, you can now have low carb fried chicken. This makes me and my tummy super happy and excited.
It then goes into some amazing and delicious-sounding cajun recipes, including making your own cajun seasoning. Then there are tons of keto waffle recipes that I have already tried in my mini dash and I am truly in love with the strawberry shortcake waffles. I've been making that every day either for a light snack or breakfast.
These recipes are easy to follow and to me, are easy to make. I grew up and live in Alabama so southern food is apart of my blood. Having this low carb cookbook in my life now is about to change everything. I had to cut out a lot of my southern foods because of the carbs but now I can add them back in and have the delicious food that I have been missing.
